Description
The white summer truffle, Tuber aestivum , also known as truffle of the Saint-Jean, is frequent in France, in Italy, where it is called scorzone, and since the years 1960 in Wallonia . It is a species of fungus edible from the family of Tuberaceae in the class of ascomycete . This mushroom is hypoge and lives in symbiosis with a tree (oak, hazel, pine, linden …). It is therefore mycorrhizal , which means that it needs a host tree, and saprophyte , because it feeds on organic matter from decaying plants.
